It’ll be Johnson’s second start of 2023 following an appearance in the Daytona 500.

He’s also been announced for the Chicago street course later this year.

The No. 84 finished 31st at Daytona International Speedway.

The news gives COTA three open entries in addition to the 36 chartered teams. Conor Daly will drive The Money Team Racing’s No. 50, while Kimi Raikkonen will compete in Trackhouse Racing’s No. 91.

That’s really strange as he has never been known as a road course racer. I would think he should be running tracks like Dover and Martinsville where he’s really good.

I think that he thinks he is, now that he spent a couple of seasons running Indy road courses…LOL

Seriously, I was more surprised he ran the Daytona 500 pack race. Most drivers like to steer clear of those once they retire (unless that was the only place that they had success… Michael Waltrip I am looking at you).

I wonder how much NA$CAR is paying to get him to bless us with his presence and try to create some relevance to their product?
