Fire on Fridays: NASCAR Should Be Alarmed by Tony Stewart’s Comments

The past few weeks have not been good to Stewart-Haas Racing.

First, Kevin Harvick’s No. 4 team was hit with an L2 penalty following the race at Talladega Superspeedway; the penalty resulted in a 100-point deduction in both driver and owner standings, as well as crew chief Rodney Childers incurring a $100,000 fine and four-race suspension.

However, the exact infraction is not known to fans, drivers, or even the team. With Harvick speaking out about the safety of the Next Gen car over the past few weeks, some are taking the penalty as a means of retaliation on Harvick.

Just one week later, Cole Custer’s No. 41 team was docked 50 driver and owner points, while both he and his crew chief, Mike Shiplett, were fined $100,000, with Shiplett suspended indefinitely, for manipulating the end of the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL race. Custer seemingly brake-checked Austin Dillon and Erik Jones in an effort to get teammate Chase Briscoe additional points to advance into the Round of 8.

The move worked, but NASCAR immediately said it would investigate the actions of the No. 41 team. The damning evidence came from the No. 41 radio, when Shiplett told Custer that he needed to check up due to “a flat tire.”

2-Headed Monster: Does Cole Custer's Penalty Fit the Crime?

So let’s do some quick math here. Two SHR teams have lost a combined 150 driver and owner points, accumulated $300,000 in fines and have two crew chiefs who will probably not return to the track until Phoenix Raceway at the earliest.

You can only imagine how the bossman feels about this situation.

After initially appealing both penalties, the team dropped the Harvick appeal. That’s when Tony Stewart sounded off to the Associated Press about the situation.

“I’m not going to talk about it,” Stewart said. “I’m so mad at NASCAR, I’m not going to talk about it. Super glad I’m going drag racing this weekend. If it weren’t for the fact that I’ve got a couple appearances that I have to make, I wouldn’t be in another NASCAR race the rest of the year. I wouldn’t waste my time.”

Oh, boy.

If I’m NASCAR, I’m sounding alarm bells at these comments. This is a team owner — a championship-winning team owner, no less, who is also one of the most successful drivers in recent NASCAR history — who is so frustrated with the last few weeks that he wouldn’t even attend the rest of the races if he had the choice.

Stewart’s statement wouldn’t really hold as much weight if it weren’t for the fact that he owns an NHRA team and stated in that same article that he has had a lot more fun in the NHRA atmosphere than NASCAR.

Along with this, Stewart has put out tweets that have mentioned looking for new hobbies that aren’t Southeast-based:

Regardless of whether or not Custer’s penalty was justified, if a team owner is this upset with NASCAR right now, it should cause concern within the higher executives of NASCAR. While it’s highly unlikely that Stewart will straight up shut down his team (co-owner Gene Haas might have something to say about that), there’s still a possibility that the Hall of Famer could sell his share of the team and leave the sport entirely to focus on NHRA.

In fact, both Stewart and Haas have their own projects to focus on — Stewart has the NHRA AND the SRX program, but Haas also could redirect his efforts toward his Formula 1 program. The effects of a team like SHR either shutting down or losing its majority owner could completely change the landscape of the Cup Series.

Stewart has never been a person to shy away from a bold statement, as both a driver and an owner. So if he’s as mad at NASCAR as he says he is, he could be one more wrongdoing away from pulling himself out of the sport entirely — and feeling good about it.

In the midst of everything that NASCAR has had to deal with the last few weeks — the safety of the Next Gen car, the next media deal, outraged drivers/teams and several instances of disrespectful/manipulative driving — an upset owner who has noticeably distanced himself to focus on other projects is the last thing NASCAR needs on its plate right now.

Think Tony should be more upset with his two teams….just sayin…

Mark

Both teams got caught cheating, altering parts or outcome of a race.

Daniel Murphy

How come when Hendricks team pulls the same BS nascar has no problem With them manipulating the outcome ? If I was Tony I’d be done with nascar and field another top fuel team or funny car or both .I’ve despised nascar since they threw that phoney caution flag for imaginary debris no one has ever produced that robbed Carl Edward’s of his championship a few years back ,also their next Gen car should be named the next concussion special . They knew before the season started the cars were unsafe but pushed them through anyway.

Brad H.

They all cheat. If your not cheating your not winning, period. NASCAR, has their favorite teams. They can do no harm. It’s a rigged business!!!! Love Tony, Nascar sucks From the day Dale Earnhardt passed. I don’t watch NASCAR any more.

Daydreamy24

Seems they can’t innovate anymore and it’s a shame. I was a lifetime fan until the segments and the Champion isn’t really the best driver over all.
I will say it freed up a lot of weekends for me.

Jerry walden

I totally agree with ya .and want to make it like a freaking ball game,Nascar Sucks

Clyde mcleop

The race is altered every dam week by somebody or some teammate every race open your eyes and pay attention with a Super speedway race altered every lap.help set up ahead of time help set up by the spotters race finish altered finishes almost every week certin people pushing certin ones on every restat so don’t tell me it dosent go on every week That’s Racing Blocking has become part of their Areo car racing clean air worth to much car is to Aero dependent My Opinions are my own only

Jean

Nascar didn’t seem so upset when Hendricks put a ringer on in one championship race so Jeff Gordon could win his first championship. But then that was Hendricks and Gordon. That’s a fact

Joyce

And don’t forget they did nothing to their golden boy Chase Elliot when intentionally wrecked Harvick at Bristol to get Larson the win. Open manipulation that was ignored.

Daydreamy24

Can’t be proven, unfortunately. That it was premeditated.

Bill

Earnhardt Sr. Did a hell of alot worse then that. Nascar has turned into football, can’t do this can’t do that somebody will get a booboo. Let them have at it, do whatever it takes to WIN!!!

Daydreamy24

Can I get an Amen?
I don’t want drivers hurt, but this over policing is awful for the sport.
I loved the 80s, and 90s racing!!!

JR

If this was Hendricks team nothing would have been said. NASCAR is starting to resemble a government instead of a governing body. LETS GO BRANDON

Bill B

Maybe they should, but I doubt NASCAR gives a rat’s ass about what Tony says.

Gary R Rogers

They better,if Tony pulls out.theyll lose a lot

Danny Tilton

Nascar had become a joke. The new car is a joke, all the road courses are a joke the Bristol dirt race is a constant fiasco. To many paper champions. The playoff format is a joke.

Booggs

Totally agree with what your saying

Ray Marsh

Then don’t watch it!

David Ives

I do not watch anymore, my business spent thousands of dollars a year entertaining employees and customers haven’t in 10 years. Just so disappointed in the way Nascar has gone. SAD

Becky

And when someone as well known in NASCAR circles as Tony Stewart speaks out about the problems, many more fans will follow suit by finding something more enjoyable to watch.

S Bergdorf

Local racing or sprint cars, like World of Outlaws. Support your home or local tracks,a lot cheaper and you don’t have to sit 4-5 hrs and these drives could use the money a lot more than Nascar drivers

Mr B

AGREE 100%

Mary Ledgerwood

A lot of people can’t watch it. Most races are not on broadcast TV anymore and are on some streaming channel that some people can’t access or afford. Nascar is driving away their grass roots fans!!!

Mike

I couldn’t have said it better Mary. I cut the cable cord long ago and haven’t been able to watch many races at all. Nascar is loosing fans at alarming rates.

Jack

They do not care, fans and tickets do not make Nascar profits!! TV rights do! Until NASCAR and it’s sponsors feel the money pinch, nothing will change and BTW, that new car is too stiff and will kill a driver if not softened up. Look at the concussions just this season!!

Troy

I don’t watch it anymore. NASCAR has become BullS–t racing.
Ray you and the other handful of fans will have plenty of room in the stands to watch this crap

Bud

If we all stop watching, so will you

Iceman202290

I don’t, I just read up on it here at Frontstretch anymore. Waste of valuable time on a Sunday.

Jerry walden

Us smart ones dont ,dummy

Jean

Yes it has. Mr France is rolling in their graves. How much do the people running it know. Nothing, playing at it. I think Jim France is the only honest one left. But then you have Lisa France Kennedy turned it over to her son and it’s been down hill since then.

Jerry

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH WHAT YOU SAID

Vaughn Bagnard

My wife always says why do watch all those old races. I say because that’s when racing was fun. New car is a joke, tires going flat, suspensions breaking. Come on nascar!!!

Jon

I use to never miss a race. Since all the nonsense changes that have gone on. I could not care less. They have ruined the sport. It has become a joke.

Allen

NASCAR has ruined the championship system completely. What is called NASCAR now is no longer the creation of Bill France Sr. It wasn’t broke so why did these clowns have to mess with it. The road courses at Charlotte, Daytona and Indianapolis aren’t good for NASCAR. The original road courses were fine. NASCAR isn’t Formula One or Indy Car so why are they trying to make it that way? You want true racing people continue to support your area dirt tracks. That’s real racing instead of what NASCAR is.

James

NASCAR is not fun to watch any more, it turned into bullshit racing. NASCAR need to go back to it roots. Because they have lost a lot of us that grown up loving this sport. I am one of them. I am passionate and I love this sport, but there is nothing stock about these cars anymore. And most of these drivers today they don’t do it because they have passion for it they only drive the car because of the money they get. Whoever is pulling the strings behind NASCAR is another woke political person

Teri

I agree 100%. NASCAR has lost a lot of fans and I am heading that way. They just don’t give a damn about the drivers or the fans.

David

Ever since Brian France got railroad out NASCAR has went down hill fast.

Ken Wright

Brian France was run out of nascrap because he was a drug addicted and had no clue how to run the organization.

Allen

Sorry to say NASCAR was starting to go downhill when Brian France had it. Inviting Toyota into the sport was technically the beginning.

Stephen

Same here I’m so tired of it I love it back in the old days before they started closing tracks and acting like the government

Al

Too many rules and changes have destroyed the spot we love! NASCAR must have hired a fleet of lawyers to run their series! Too bad to see this happen !

D.C.

NASCAR has become the PUTIN of auto racing

Tom

I think you mean the Biden of nascar.

Michael Shoeder

And huh?

Bob

Tom you have truly just showed the world what a jackass you are . Another trump ass kisser

Rick M

Better then the trump of nascar. It would have gone out of business years ago.

S Neeser

Lol

Michael Shoeder

Huh?

13th Prophet

Agreed… Nascar gone woke… Whatever happened to run what you brung?

Hobbs

It’s never been run what you brung, even back to that first meeting in the motel, they set the rules for the competition to go by, yea every team uh um stretched the rules but it’s never been run what you brung, if that were so they wouldn’t have tech pre n post race even back then!

Davey boy

You have to read the book a lifetime going around in circles by Darryl waltrip. In that book it says they never had post race inspections back in his day that’s how they were able to circumvent (cheat :) ) some of the rules was the fact that they didn’t check the cars at the end of the race.

Fred

Agree 100%. I’ve been saying this for a couple years now. How about the sound of 36 electric race cars coming down the front stretch to start a race at Daytona…. Invigorating thought isn’t it? Talk about woke group ruining something else in our country.

Hobbs

Jeez you showing your ignorance, it’s also 2022 not 1988, and this woke bullshit comments, yea I prefer the era of racing I grew up in, also have a street stock n a late model stock but I can also look at the calender and see it’s not 1992 when I built my first Street stock either, will their be an all electric NASCAR division, yea, will it replace NASCAR as we see it no not in our life times at least not mine, hybrid is coming in a cpl years, bit folks as much as I hate to admit the future is here!!!

Joe

F Joe Biden! F electric cars! F the tree huggers and this new generation of soft, panty waste wanna be’s! They all think they’re gonna save the world..meanwhile all they’re doing is making everything suck..look how much it’s all went down the tube just in the last 2 years..will be lucky to survive 2 more! God forbid 6 more..

Bob

Just another trump loving jackass with nothing to intelligent to say . F you hobbs

David

Ever since Brian France got railroad out of NASCAR it’s has gone down hill fast.

S Neeser

Have agreed with you for a long time. We finally quit watching 2 years ago. Just hated all the weird rules that were confusing and the stage racing sucked. Seemed to make a long race longer.

Randy

Seeing as how much money and backing he gets from Ford in everything he wants to do (sprint cars, NHRA and Eldora ), I don’t think he risk losing it all by pulling his NASCAR team.

Old ammo

I think he should pull all of his team’s, and run them in Formula1.
NASCAR has become a joke.

Jimmy Bowman h

If Nascar has such concern with Stewart Haas racing why don’t they look at other organizations like Gib so organization were around Mr Hamlin held back so truex could get into playoffs a few weeks ago what about that kind of crap

Lamar Reid

Because those are Toyota’s. NASCAR seems more lenioate with them. Harvick is being penalized because on Shitty parts statement. They haven’t shown the team yet what part was supposedly ileagl.

Barbara Park

Hamlin also holds back to keep Bubba in front of him. All of the time. It’s very noticeable.

Kevin in SoCal

People can’t make up their minds whether Chevy/Hendrick or Toyota/Gibbs are the most favored. But everyone agrees its not Ford.

Carl D.

Depends on who’s winning.

Joe

Ummm hello McFly Martin isn’t in the playoffs. Here’s your sign

Mike

I don’t blame Tony at all. His team gets the shaft while the Hendrick drivers get treated like golden boys. I’ve been a NASCAR fan since the 60’s but I’m losing patience with them.

FreeAmerican

The only reason they’re treated that is because they’re good at what they do, Larson wasn’t that good until they put him in a Hendricks car.

KyCupFan

You obviously have not paid attention to Kyle Larson over the years, if you think he couldn’t drive before he was in a Hendrick (there is no S in Hendrick) car.

Randy

Obviously he hasn’t a clue.

John

With the exception of hiring Rodney Childers and Harvick, what else has SHR done to tangibly improve its Nascar effort since inception? Maybe funding Kurt Busch when no one else would touch him? This team was kicking butt as a satellite of HMS (although paying dearly for that privilege). The move to being a ‘key partner’ Ford team only maintained performance on one team while the others have floundered.
Both partners appear to be too busy with other projects to direct operations and the people they’ve hired simply aren’t getting the job done on either the personnel or engineering side of the business. Dodge would rather talk with RFK than SHR…what does that say?
But who is going to walk in with 100 M to buy the 4 charters, let alone the rest of SHR? With a “pile of dung” business model for the teams, who wants to invest in 4 car operation? Apparently, no one. But reducing to a 2 car operation may be a rational alternative.
It will take and Earnhardt or Andretti sized bank account to pull all or part of this purchase. Both have done the business cases and both are staying away.

Jeremy

Great observations and spot on. I’ve been a fan of Stewart and his love / commitment to racing (not always his behavior, but he is who he is). Agree, both he and Haas seem to be focused elsewhere. If Tony is not happy with NASCAR, perhaps he should look closer to home and see if there are any opportunities @ Indycar?

To be honest, he’s always had a contentious relationship with NASCAR. I was actually surprised he wanted to stay in the series as an owner to begin with. But as you pointed out, getting rid of those charters at a loss will be costly. When Dale Jr – of all people – doesn’t even see the value / ROI in a Cup charter, something is seriously wrong!

I am fed up with NASCAR . They let some team get away (Hedrick) with things and they pick of other for speaking up . Toni should be mad about it . I like Tony,NASCAR can go to h..,, If Tony leave , so I will too . Tony and Harvick is the main reason I have watch NASCAR and they treat them bad for speaking out . They are costing the team money and points for there problem .

David

I’m with you Tony and the old man are the reason I still watch every weekend. I was hopeful Kyle would end up at SHR. O well Seems to me
Hendrick has all the power. Without him NASCAR would be doomed though.

Daydreamy24

I’ve already left. Would come back for some good old racing. Not the crap form they race now. Too much big brother. Too much trying to make it fair for everyone. Too much driver whining about things they have easier than they did 20 years ago. Too many rich guys with teams. Pushed out the possible up and comers.
I started going to races with my grandparents when I was about 6. Wish it would have stayed Winston Cup.

John G.

Can you imagine Tony selling all 4 charters at $30 million each…..

Joe

I want nascrack to start telling what the hell the infractions are for instead of section 3box 123.98 of actions detrimental to sports

Al Sorensen

I doubt NASCAR can afford to lose Smoke. The only possibility here is if Stewart-Hass decides to leave NASCAR and then sells out to Dale Jr. for a decent price for their charter.

Last edited 1 year ago by Al Sorensen
TMan62

Unless there is a total overhaul of NASCAR, they’ve lost him. He’s just playing out the clock. The teams can’t make any money with this structure. The cars are crap. And the fans are losing interest. I give it one more year until you see at least two major teams fold.

Danny Ray

Why did nascar make such a big deal when the 9 car did the same thing to the 4 car? Not a peep from naschevyar.

Sam

Because chase is nascars new wonder boy

Randy

Here is the difference…Elliott did not slow down and block Harvick, he simply didn’t slow down and pull over to let him go by. Harvick was not fast enough to pass him or even get to him and bump him out of the way. And, by the way, he wasn’t fast enough to keep Larson from passing him. Simply…just not good enough.

A L

NASCAR has become a joke anyway since so of the GOATS retired. The best drivers that weren’t from tons of money and didn’t start racing at 5 years old such as Dale Sr, Waltrip, Wallace, B Elliot etc actually had to work on their machines and in many cases fund the operation to an extent made the sport. These kids that are infiltrating NASCAR from the grassroots level to the Cup level don’t have the same respect and tenacity that the NASCAR from the 60s through the 90s had. On top of that, NASCAR is more worried about shedding their Southern Heritage and so called image that they were built on that they’ve started making the sport more like a reality show. Just the new cars for example have a lot of resemblance to an IMSA car which shows what audience they’re looking to attract. I still watch a little, but the grassroots weekly tracks are where you can still see the best racing!

Margie Upchurch

It all started when Jimmie Johnson left. He saw the writing on the wall. Now, Harvick, Stewart, and many of the veteran drivers are getting fed up. SO, NASCAR, should take notice. The FANS are getting fed up with the POLITICS, BAD CARS, ETC. WE THE FANS ARE IMPORTANT!! If all the fans leave, what does NASCAR HAVE??

David

??? Fans are showing up!

Mark

Many drivers have said concerns about the new car and have not been punished. Breaking rules though nascar has always responded. With social media we here about it. Drivers, teams and owners have easy access to be heard. Some boundaries had to be set. The new car has new rules on parts and what the teams can do with them. Changing the outcome of a race with points on the line. Who makes it to the next round of playoffs should be punished. So I’m hoping the boundaries have been set and in the future nascar will stay out of it and let drivers decide the outcome. Everyone clearly knows the rules.

Jacksonmurray

With all the frustrating on these cars WHY DONT NASCAR STOCK PARTS FOR THESE CARS AND. THE PARTS QUESTION WOULD BE ON THEM @ALL RACE CARS BE INSPECTED PRE RACE @POST RACE. ????

Charles

So the 41 check up to get his teammate got extra points. Didn’t the 9 car intentionally block the 4 car so his teammate could win a race? So why is it ok for the one team to do it and not another? That’s Nascar playing favorites again.

Guido Murphy

Does Anyone Remember that BLOCKING to Help a Team mate is
What led to the Tragic Death of Dale Earnhardt.
It’s been around for years,

Tom

Hendrick and Gibbs go by different rules than the Ford teams.

Randy

Chase just took his line away. He didn’t block him. Harvick wasn’t good enough to pass him or even get to him and bump him out of the way. And wasn’t good enough to keep Larson from passing him. Just plain and simple, he wasn’t good enough. Facts are facts.

Michael R Allen

I love Tony and he is right the new car sucks I haven’t watched a race since the one in Los Angeles and stage racing sucks because the last time I attended a race is when they started it and don’t wanna go to another or watch it because I would rather watch SRX.

Chelle L

Yes!! SRX and IROC identical cars to show what driver is capable winning. Not this we’re Nascar and these particular teams will win, even if we, Nascar, have to cheat to make it work.

Can I add as a side note that Ryan Blaney is in the top 8 without a win. I want him to take the championship because Nascar thought this stage racing would be better. Go YRB!

Todd

Nascar should close its doors or get someone that knows how to run series better than it has

John

Steve Phelps is a woke figurehead! He needs to go!!!

Joyce

Uhhh NASCAR openly backed Trump in 2016.

Ernie

Nascar was the best in 2001. It has gotten worst with every subsequent evolution. It’s not Motocross! It’s not the X Games… and Nascar certainly isn’t going to “steal” anyone else’s fans, but as should be abundantly clear, you drive away your base.

Also, quit running off veterans for the next (and cheaper) young gun… people relate to drivers in their own peer group.

That’s the thing that separated NASCAR… having driver / team stability… if you want a sport where the entire team and key players change the NFL and MLB have it covered.

James Rolfe

Nascar should worry, and also the amount of fans on a weekly basis they lose

Tom

Seem they don’t care.

Ken

NASCAR has to go back to racing. No stage racing erase you pit anytime you want. Change your tires. Fuel up anytime you want but the race continues this stage. One stage two and final. It’s like three little races. It sucks

George the detailer

This is craps why you can t help yur team succeed people this has been going on for awhile they do it at Daytona and the other big tracks by pushing their team to the lead now its a problem they dnt like tony Stewart because hes not afraid of them especially Kevin harvick they are burning NASCAR up..

Keith Smith

NASCAR lost me with the stage racing….

Robert Evans

Why are the stands half empty on race day?

Bill B

Because most tracks got rid of a bunch of seats over the last ten years.

Otherwise they’d be three-quarters empty! LOL

Tonia

Going to the track is very expensive, plus the traveling and camping expenses.

Sidedog

Didn’t chase Elliot pull the same blocking last year on Harvick to help Larson? No penalties on that move.

Allen

First off, the next Gen car is unsafe! The main base is rigid, not allowing for any collapse during an impact. The whole car is built off of this mainframe, just for aerodynamics? And the “low profile tires”.. what for tire mfq R&D! This is not a driver-friendly car. In last year’s car, you could catch a spin entry without spinning out! With this car….the whole garage of drivers is at risk of hard impacts!

Jim mitchell

Never was much of a Nascar fan , always an NHRA fan so I think it’s great that Tony Stewart has moved over to NHRA

Wildman

SRX is way more entertaining anyway. Hasn’t been the same since Tony left. Oh and I’ve been a fan since the 70’s, Petty Man.

Tony Ski

He should dump nascar all together. It’s been going down hill ever since all this nexgen crap. Ratings are so low people would rather watch grass grow

Mark Anderson

Heat the next gen car reminds me of road race cars fruit cuppers hate them using the indie style one lug situation to me they taking the stock out of car love all the safety things for the drivers absolutely NASCAR as a whole has gone way downhill the France family needs to wake up the stand show it the number show it you know it been around racing my whole life I’m 65 years old and I can’t believe that it’s come to this

Mary Johnson

NASCAR has forgotten where they started from, the smaller tracks, and events that produced profits for the local business where the races being held. Daytona Firecracker 400 many fans from all over the country planned their summer vacations, stay in Daytona enjoy the beach attend Firecracker 400, maybe visit Disney World. A NASCAR fan for the most part is blue collar hard working individual who is loyal to his favorite team/driver and their sponsors. I would say it’s pure greed has ruined the sport for me and many other fans.

Alan B

So glad Nascar has taken the medicine and done the hard work involved in building a new racecar. Those of us who design, engineer, cut, weld, tune etc etc (and even drive) know that you don’t build something this complicated without a certain amount of finessing required.
Think how hard it is to shape front ends to achieve relative aero parity yet give design differentiation among the 3 brands to keep them happy when a .015 thick piece of tape under the wrap is enough of an advantage to risk penalties. Think how hard it is to make a whole new modular racecar, with a chassis built in sections so it’s cheaper for the owners to repair yet strong enough to handle like a modern sports car and still protect the drivers in super speedway type crashes that tear away the entire front end and engine, then get hit by a 200 mph traffic jam.
The new car looks more like it’s street version. It now has modern 18″ tires and wheels, independent f&r suspension, rack and pinion steering, rear mounted sequential shift transaxle and a new durable carbon reinforced body.
So now that data is being collected after real world racing, changes will be made to soften the impacts the drivers feel. That is just how things work.
Remember the early days with the IRL’s Indy car design and the back injuries before the rear attenuators were developed.
It’s easy to spread hate and point fingers. It’s hard to face challenges and work through them.
I, for one, applaud Nascar for a job well done and look forward to seeing how our fellow gear heads improve the product and the racing going forward.

Alan B

Sorry Mary. That wasn’t meant to be a reply to any particular comment. I’m a first time online responder. Rookie mistake.

Jal

The plan here….trade in all the fire suites and helmets for spandex, hire Vince McMahon and it will be WWW NASCAR…..perfect.

Bob

Tony is right. NASCAR has moved more towards WWE. Time to start following other racing series.

Tom brown

I would love to see Stewart sell is shares an tell that none athletic sport centered around rednecks to stick it where the sun don’t shine

Carl D.

Without NASCAR then us rednecks won’t have nuthin’ to do but go huntin’ and fishin’ and makin’ corn liquor.

1)They need announcers like Ken Squire . That man made NASCAR more fun to watch.
2)Stop all the techno strategy talk.Lulls me to sleep every time! Leave the fan to guess a little!
3)Abolish “Teams”. If Manufacturers team up so be it. Every man for himself period.
4)One good hit and the h
car looks like a weeble wobble toy going to the pits(boom! out of the race!)
Yes Nascar’s desperate attempts to will back fans and happy racers is falling short!
…Mic drop…..

Edward Huffman

NASCAR is on it’s way out. Need Dale Earnhardt sr. back more excitement.

TCinAZ

Tony is chasing a skirt and looking at the average age of pro category racers in NHRA.

Brian

Typical NASCAR and their ‘grey area’ rule book. If they want to fine you for something they will. Tow the line, be a poster child and you can get away with murder. Tony could always head back home and field some USAC teams again.

Johna R

The cars that they are driving are junk ! More engineering bull crap and ass kissy nascar is becoming a democratic series!

Normand

Clone cars is the problem ,where are dodges,.

Gator56

NASCAR is dirty as it comes to any other sport they want some body from Hendrix team to win it since NASCAR can be better in Vegas in bookies and not going to lose their money it’s all set up now days just like any other sport and you can believe what you want but nothing’s up and up anymore.

Keith Sinquefield

It sounds like a lot of hot air if you ask me. Talk is cheap

Jeremiah Barber

Yes I followed NASCAR since 1967 back when it was real racing when we had real mechanics real drivers real hard-working car owners and it didn’t cost tens of millions of dollars to race a season. There’s so many rules in place and having basically an IROC series type car there’s definitely no room for innovation late nights working hard in their shops to try to make their cars fast and they say they do all of these new cars and all of the changes and all of these rules to lower the cost for the owners! These owners say it’s more expensive to purchase one of these new cars and have to buy each and every part from the mandated manufacturer that Nascar has put into place then it was to have real mechanics real fabricators that actually could make a lot of things in their own shops. I don’t even pay attention anymore and I love my Wood Brothers but they were old school and I think these new style cars just doesn’t fit into their scheme of the type of racing that they always have known as a race team. If you notice there’s no more of anyone in NASCAR talking about the new Leonard Wood the new Dale Inman the new suitcase Jake elder the new Smokey Yunick. It’s all engineers that no one in the stands can actually relate to.

Tony has been quite all year. If he likes drag racing better than nascar go for it. A change might be good. Nascar could not care less and take Harvick with him.

Rick Hill

After 40 yrs of watching Nascar I have only seen 4 races this yr.. why.. this 3 start stop is a joke go back to the old days where you had to work harder in the pits to have a game plan for fuel and pit stops on green ..and it’s Not stock car racing anymore..
Dale Earnhardt Sr would roll over and spit at the owners of Nascar

I left NASCAR when they decided to deny their Southern heritage, several years ago. I would rather watch F1 than NASCAR. It has become a laughing stock! They make up the rules as they go, and the new cars are laughable, and a danger to the driver’s health! Not worth my time.

I think Brian France has ruined the sport. If I wanted to watch a boring sport were the participants were not allowed to share their opinion I would watch a tennis match. Congratulations Brian France you have single handedly destroyed your family’s business.

Two thoughts on this. First off, Tony Stewart’s a joke and he proves it every time he opens his mouth. On the other hand I’m thinking if Stewart’s this upset everyone probably should stay in their car

NASCAR SUCKS NOT WORTH WATCHING ANYMORE AND THERE GOING DOWN HILL NHRA THATS RACING

Robert

Every year some team pulls a stunt to advance a team mate in the Chase. Dump the play offs.

The car us junk. Harvick is right. NASCAR gets butt hurt when they get called out. There have wheels fall off, increased injuries, fires and a host of issues with this turd of a car.

Brian

It is amazing how so many people who claim to hate NASCAR come to a NASCAR website just to complain. If you do not like the sport anymore than go watch or do something you enjoy otherwise stop whining just to whine.

Ann

The like and dislike buttons are screwed up. With that said I completely disagree with you. You got a thumbs down from me ONLY. Not the plus two.
