Open Wheel Open Mic: The Open Wheel Double-Double

On a special weekend edition of Open Wheel Open Mic, IndyCar editor Alex Gintz returns to the show to chat about four different races: one recap and one preview each for Formula 1 and the NTT IndyCar Series.

Gintz and host Jack Swansey discuss Mercedes’ surprise turn of pace and Max Verstappen‘s home win in the Dutch Grand Prix before attempting to predict the madness awaiting the F1 grid at the Autodromo Internationale Monza.

The two tackle the ultimate IndyCar question: Penske vs. Ganassi and which team will come out on top in the final round of the championship, as Will Power, Josef Newgarden, Scott Dixon, Marcus Ericsson and Scott McLaughlin set up a five-way title battle at the historic WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

The two also finally, finally, put the Colton Herta silly season speculation to rest (for now).

The Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix airs this Sunday, Sept. 11, at 9 a.m. ET on ESPN, followed by the NTT IndyCar Series Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey at 3 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
