Kurt Busch’s NASCAR Cup Series practice crash at Pocono Raceway will keep him out at least one more race.
Busch tweeted Aug. 3 that he is still in NASCAR’s concussion protocol and has not been medically cleared to race in Sunday’s Cup race at Michigan International Speedway.
Ty Gibbs will pilot the No. 45 for 23XI Racing in his place, as he has for the previous two races.
“While I am continuing to make improvements every day and can’t wait to get back in the No. 45 Monster Energy Toyota Camry TRD, I have yet to be cleared to return to competition and will not be participating in the NASCAR Cup Series race this weekend at Michigan International Speedway,” Busch tweeted. “I know Ty will do a great job in representing 23XI and the Monster Energy team.”
“I am working hard to get back to 100% and it’s my hope to be back in the car at Richmond Raceway.”
In his two Cup starts in place of Busch, Gibbs finished 16th at Pocono and 17th last weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.
