Max Kennon Takes Win in Controversial Eldora Finish

Taking home the win in round five of the Monday Night Racing Pro Series was Max Kennon, his first win of the season, as the dirt street stocks hit the virtual Eldora Speedway for what became a wild event.

Kennon took the victory after the initial winner, James Bickford, was disqualified.

“Like I said in prerace, this creates a different mindset now that we have a win, and I don’t have to worry about taking any risks before the playoffs since we’re locked in,” Kennon said post-race.

Landon Huffman, Adam Cabot, Ryan Vargas and Gary Sexton rounded out the top five.

The race was back and forth all night between Kennon, Huffman, Cabot and Collin Fern. All four drivers proved to be tough to beat, as those were the main drivers near the front for most of the event.

However, Bickford was the story at the end, after he came out of practically nowhere and tried a last-lap move that nearly got him the win.

Unfortunately, Huffman was on the bad end of the deal, and it came back to bite Bickford after it was deemed to be a little too dirty, forcing his disqualification.

Huffman dominated the last half of the race but came home runner-up.

Fern, Kennon and Sexton took home the victories in the three heat races.

The next race will take place next week on June 13 at Talladega Superspeedway. Coverage begins at 8 p.m. ET on Twitch.tv/podiumesports.
