Raphael Lessard will attempt multiple NASCAR Xfinity Series races in 2022 for SQR Development, SQR announced Jan. 20.
The newly formed team, owned by past NASCAR competitor JC Stout, will field the No. 87.
“As a team just getting going this year, having someone like Raphael Lessard drive some races for us is a pretty big deal,” Stout said in a team release. “We are looking forward to working with him and helping us out with his prior experience. He’s been to victory lane and has the drive and passion we are needing.
“We purchased all of our chassis from Joe Gibbs Racing and are working on them in our shop in Mooresville. Like any team, we are looking for partnerships on our No. 87 Toyota in the 10 or so races we’re going to run this season.”
The team’s debut was not referenced in the release, though a previous announcement has the No. 87’s first appearance at Richmond Raceway.
Lessard has made 35 starts in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, with one win, five top fives and 11 top 10s.
