Sheldon Creed Seals Dominating Texas Truck Series Win, Spot in Championship 4

Sheldon Creed collected his fourth win of the 2020 NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series season Sunday (Oct. 25), finishing off a dominating victory at Texas Motor Speedway in the SpeedyCash.com 400. Creed survived a two-lap overtime dash to the finish ahead of Austin Hill

Retaking the lead heading to a restart with 12 laps to go, Creed held on multiple times after that. In doing so, he secured a spot to join GMS Racing teammate Brett Moffitt in the Championship 4. Creed led 132 laps and swept all three stages. Finishing behind Hill was Zane Smith, Raphael Lessard and Moffitt.

Matt Crafton was sixth in front of Austin Wayne Self, Dylan Lupton, Derek Kraus and Tanner Gray.

The final restart was put into place with two laps to go when Ben Rhodes made contact with Christian Eckes, slamming Eckes into the outside wall of the quad-oval. The duo were battling for third position after Creed and Hill had scooted away.

Prior to that, Creed was on his way to holding off the leaders following a caution with 18 laps to go when Johnny Sauter and Stewart Friesen wrecked while racing for the top spot.

The incident deprived Sauter of a victory in a season of which he is on pace to post the fewest top-five finishes of any year he has raced full-time in the Truck Series. Sauter is also seeking to avoid going winless for the first time since 2015.

That exchange moved Creed, who laps earlier had relinquished the lead, back to the top spot. He led the rest of the way.
