Felipe Nasr Making IndyCar Debut With Carlin at St. Petersburg

Former Formula 1 driver Felipe Nasr will make his IndyCar Series debut with Carlin in the season opener at St. Petersburg, the team announced Tuesday, March 10.

Nasr will pilot the team’s No. 31 Chevrolet alongside teammate Max Chilton, who will also split the No. 59 in 2020 with Conor Daly.

The Brazilian spent two years in Formula 1 with Sauber, qualifying for all 40 races in 2015 and 2016. Nasr started all but one of them, scoring a best finish of fifth in his first career race at Melbourne in 2015.

He has since driven in several Formula E events, as well as multiple races in the Weathertech SportsCar Championship. Nasr won three races in Weathertech competition at Belle Isle, Sebring and Road Atlanta, as well as finishing second in two of his three career starts in the 24 Hours of Daytona with Cadillac DPi.

The season-opening Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg will take the green flag shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 15.
