After a stand-alone race weekend for the series at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, the NASCAR Xfinity Series is back on the ovals at Bristol Motor Speedway on Friday night, August 17. 40 cars are entered this weekend with some changes to make a note of.
Friday night’s event will feature five Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers: Ty Dillon, Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, Chase Elliott, and Kyle Larson. Dillon will be driving the No. 3 for Richard Childress Racing. This will be his first start since Kentucky where he finished 14th. Busch will be behind the wheel of the No. 18 car for Joe Gibbs Racing. He will be looking for his 93rd career victory in the series at a track where he has 9 wins. Logano will pilot the No. 22 for Team Penske after scoring the win his last time out at Watkins Glen International. Elliott will drive the No. 23 for GMS Racing for the first time since Daytona. Larson will drive the No. 42 for Chip Ganassi Racing and will be looking for his 4th win in only his 6th start this season.
B.J. McLeod Motorsports will have two new drivers this weekend in both the No. 8 and No. 78. Ja Junior Avila will pilot the No. 8 while Ray Black Jr. will drive the No. 78 for the team.
Opening practice for teams takes place on Thursday, August 16 at 10:05 a.m. ET with no TV coverage. The green flag waves at approximately 7:44 p.m. ET on Friday, August 17 with coverage on NBCSN.
