The Furniture Row Racing team was issued a P2 penalty at Richmond, for failing post-race laser inspection. Luckily, it seems that the 10 championship owner and driver points penalties that go with it will be assessed prior to the Chase reset.
Cole Pearn has also been assessed a $15,000 fine.
Regan Smith’s No. 7 machine fielded by Tommy Baldwin Racing was issued a warning for failing pre-qualifying laser inspection three times. This is the team’s first written warning, and they will suffer the loss of 15 minutes of practice time.
Greg Biffle, Kyle Busch, Joey Logano and Martin Truex, Jr.’s teams were all issued written warnings for failing the LIS twice and were only issued written warnings.
Of note, no penalties were issued in the incident between Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman.
