Sunday’s STP 500 continued the downward trend for Sprint Cup Series TV ratings this season as the race scored a 2.2 overnight rating.
According to Sports Media Watch, this is a 12 percent drop from the event one year ago that scored a 2.5 rating. Last year’s event was the first time the Martinsville Speedway race aired on FOX Sports 1.
The race’s rating marks a 42 percent drop from the 2014 event that broadcast on FOX and came in at a 3.8 rating.
Martinsville marked the first of seven races that will air on FS1 this season. The next race on the channel will be the May 7th event at Kansas Speedway.
not surprised at the ratings still being down. If the mothership channel for Fox can’t pull in the ratings, I’m not sure why they think going to a 2nd tier cable channel will make it better.
Fox and its choice to not show as much of the rating as it should but monofocus on specific teams/drivers plus NASCAR’s bad decisions oh and yeah the “chase” have made the regular racing season so unimportant to anyone but the diehard fans and well there are less and less of those around these days.
As you sow, so shall ye reap.
