Regular NASCAR XFINITY Series competitor Joey Gase announced today that he will make his first Sprint Cup Series start of the season next weekend at Phoenix International Raceway.
Gase will pilot the No. 32 car for Go FAS Racing that he previously drove in each of his eight career Sprint Cup Series starts.
The 23-year-old first drove for the organization at Phoenix in November 2014, where he scored his best career series result of 33rd. He returned last November and finished 42nd after crashing on lap 161.
When Gase climbs behind the wheel in Phoenix, he will join Bobby Labonte and Jeffrey Earnhardt as the drivers to compete in the car during the 2016 campaign. Labonte finished 31st in the Daytona 500 and Earnhardt came home 38th last weekend in Atlanta. The nephew of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. will also be back in the car this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Gase will pull double duty in Phoenix, competing in his full-time No. 52 XFINITY Series ride for Jimmy Means on Saturday.
