David Gilliland Lands Daytona 500 Ride

Though he will not drive for the team full time in 2016, David Gilliland is returning to Front Row Motorsports for the Daytona 500.

Gilliland will pilot the No. 35 for Front Row Motorsports in the season-opening race for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, the team announced Wednesday. The 39-year-old drove for the team from 2010-2015 on a full-time basis, managing two top 5s and four top 10s.

Landon Cassill replaced Gilliland in the team’s No. 38 for 2016.

Gilliland takes over the No. 35, which has not been announced for a full-time schedule in 2016 and is not among the organization’s two charters in the series.

Cole Whitt drove the No. 35 in 2015.
