Veteran NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Johnny Sauter announced Thursday on NASCAR RaceHub that he will be leaving ThorSport Racing at the end of the season to join GMS Racing for the 2016 season.
Sauter joins the organization after spending seven seasons at ThorSport. Since joining the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, he has 10 victories and has finished in the top 10 in points four times. Through 18 races, Sauter is fourth in points.
He will be joined at GMS by incumbent driver Spencer Gallagher. Gallagher has run in all 18 races this season and sits 10th in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points standings, recording one top-five and five top-10 finishes. The team has fielded a second entry, the No. 33, with a variety of drivers, including Austin Dillon, Ty Dillon and Brandon Jones. Recently, the team fielded a third entry, the No. 21, at Las Vegas for Brennan Poole with sponsorship from DC Solar.
Austin Dillon won the organization’s first race at Loudon in September. The team will announce a number, crew chief and sponsor for Sauter in the coming weeks.

Good for Johnny. Is the #5 available? It would be cool to see him drive the car number his Dad raced, and that he uses at super late model races.
