Alex Bowman Wins Final Nationwide Series Practice at Charlotte

Making a rare appearance for JR Motorsports in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, Alex Bowman is making the most of his opportunity, winning final practice in the No. 5 Chevrolet (180.856 mph) Friday evening (Oct. 9).

Brad Keselowski put up a fast lap early in the session but fell to second overall. Trevor Bayne, who was fastest in the first practice session, fell to eighth.

Championship points leader Chase Elliott ran the most laps (52) and was sixth-fastest, but had the fastest consecutive 10-lap average. His JR Motorsports teammate and closest points competitor, Regan Smith, was only 20th fastest.
