Gray Gaulding Driver Diary: Racing Legends at Charlotte

This Monday (June 27) we had a great practice and really got the car turning in the center and were able to run the right line to pickup our times. On Tuesday we qualified 19th and I think these were the closest times in the Pro division yet. I ran the heat race and finished third. The car was a little tight so the team worked on it and made some changes. In the race, the car felt awesome but I was running 10th at one point.

Track position was so important with everyone close. With five laps to go everyone checked up and someone got into the back of me and broke my bumper. I had to pit for a new bumper and came out with three to go and took checkered flag.

It was a good night; the car was fun to drive and everyone at U.S. Legends and Charlotte Motor Speedway always show my family and I a good time. Great family fun!! I got in bed around 1:30 a.m. and was back at it on Wednesday morning, leaving the house around 6 a.m. for Ace Speedway with my new crew chief Randy Renfrow and the super late model. We ran about 10 sessions and I will say I learned more in this day about changes to the car. The track was hot but the car still had a ton of forward bite. I feel that we the team and I are going for our best finish !!!
