Stewart-Haas: Still No Decision on Tony Stewart Running Michigan

Will Tony Stewart race at Michigan International Speedway this weekend? He’s on the entry list, but at this moment there’s no clear word on a decision.

According to a report from USA Today, Stewart-Haas Racing has noted that there is no current timeline for when Stewart might make a decision to compete this upcoming weekend in the Pure Michigan 400

“The decision to compete in this weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event at Michigan will be Tony’s, and he will have as much time as he needs to make that decision,” Mike Arning, director of communications for Stewart-Haas Racing, told USA Today. “It is still an emotional time for all involved, Tony included. He is grieving, and grief doesn’t have a timetable.”

Since the accident that took the life of 20-year-old sprint car driver Kevin Ward, Jr. at Canandaigua Speedway on Saturday night, Stewart canceled plans to race both in the Sprint Cup Cheez-It 355 at Watkins Glen last weekend, as well as a sprint car race this coming Saturday night in Indiana.
