Increased TV Ratings Finally Match INDYCAR’s Momentum

Increased TV Ratings Finally Match INDYCAR’s Momentum

Anyone who reads my contributions to this column on a regular basis knows that I am something of a pessimist when it comes to the world of IndyCar racing. As much as I do love this sport, I have never been afraid to point out the multitude of flaws and missteps that the leaders of American Open Wheel racing have committed over the past two decades in an attempt to steer the sport back on to the road to popularity ... IndyCar Breakdown: The Honda Indy 2 in Toronto

IndyCar Breakdown: The Honda Indy 2 in Toronto

In a Nutshell: On what was easily the craziest race weekend of the year for INDYCAR, Sebastien Bourdais and Mike Conway usurped the usual suspects by each winning one of the two doubleheader races in the Streets of Toronto. Bourdais did it via sheer dominance, while Conway did it via cunning strategy and a little bit of luck. Either way, both found sweet victory on a weekend that onlookers of the sport will remember for a long time. Key Moment: As ... Read More »

IndyCar Preview: Honda Indy Toronto – 2 in TO

Last week’s race at Iowa came across as quite the show.  It featured good racing, a brainfart or two, and a strategic move that determined the winner.  When Ryan Hunter-Reay came into the pits for four fresh Firestones, no one anticipated that he’d be able to make his way to the front as easily as he did.  The win helped ease the pain of a rough slew of races for Hunter-Reay since he won the Indianapolis 500. IndyCar Breakdown: 2014 Pocono IndyCar 500

In a Nutshell: Juan Pablo Montoya continued his stellar form as of late and delivered a convincing victory in what is arguably the second biggest race on the INDYCAR calendar. Montoya won the pole for the race and then proceeded to duel with old CART rival Tony Kanaan in a grueling battle that was only interrupted by one caution. Montoya’s victory was his first since returning to INDYCAR earlier this year, thus putting him within striking distance of his teammates ... Read More »

IndyCar Preview: Pocono INDYCAR 500 Fueled by Sunoco

The INDYCAR schedule is keeping its drivers up on the wheel.  The series will have gone from the Texas oval to the street course of Houston and now to the testy triumvirate of turns better known as Pocono.  The variety of tracks is an under-appreciated aspect of the tests that the drivers must face to win the championship. What’s News Pocono marks the third oval on the schedule, with Ryan Hunter-Reay winning at Indianapolis and Ed Carpenter doing so at ... Read More »

INDYCAR Preview: Shell and Pennzoil Grand Prix of Houston

INDYCAR Preview: Shell and Pennzoil Grand Prix of Houston

After a rather lackluster race at Texas Motor Speedway three weeks ago, the Verizon IndyCar Series is back in full force this weekend a little bit further downstate in the streets of Houston. This weekend, which IndyCar has dubbed the Shell and Pennzoil Grand Prix of Houston, will be another doubleheader race offering much like the one in Detroit one month ago. As such, a great deal of points are up for  grabs this weekend, and with the championship race ... Read More »
