Quotes to Remember: AAA 400

Quotes to Remember: AAA 400

“I don’t know what happened to Kevin Harvick. It was unfortunate for him. He was the class of the field. We were tuning on it to try to keep even with him. When I saw him go out, I knew we could compete with the No.2 (Brad Keselowski) car. The No. 2 was really good on short runs, but we could run him down. Of course he made us work for it there at the end because he was so ... Read More »

We could see some familiar faces back up front at New Hampshire. The end of last Sunday’s race at Chicagoland saw Brad Keselowski and Kyle Larson running up front for much of the event, with Keselowski winning and guaranteeing himself one of 12 spots in the next round of the Chase. Rookie Larson, through hard racing with Kevin Harvick, then Jeff Gordon kept trying for his first Sprint Cup win before ultimately coming up short. And while there are no ... Read More »

When it’s all said and done, Ryan Newman will be part of the 2014 Chase for the Sprint Cup. But you already figured – perhaps knew – that, didn’t you? After all, all Newman has a 19-point lead on Greg Biffle entering Richmond, the final race before the Chase begins. Even if, Biffle made up those points, the Richard Childress Racing driver would still have a cushion on Clint Bowyer, who is currently 42 points behind. His only troubling scenario is if ... NASCAR Mailbox: The Lack of Negativity Surrounding Tony Stewart’s Return Was Refreshing

Tony Stewart’s return to NASCAR was a story that wasn’t just a big deal to the NASCAR community. It was a big deal to a lot of people who rarely pay attention to the sport, if ever. Mainstream news organizations were present at Atlanta Motor Speedway, from Friday afternoon when Stewart made his first public statement since the tragic accident at Canandaigua Motorsports Park, all the way through until Sunday night when Stewart’s race ended in the garage area. While I ... Read More »

Did You Notice? … NASCAR Talent: Then And Now

Did You Notice? … How hard it is to gain a foothold in this sport? More than ever, talented drivers find themselves inside a shrinking window of opportunity. The number of available rides has shrunk, combined with the funding now necessary to pair them within a top-tier organization. Having cash on hand and helping bridge the gap of corporate support can now make the difference as to whether you simply get a job. NASCAR’s purse doesn’t pay the bills; heck, ... Read More »

Who’s Hot / Who’s Not: Daytona-New Hampshire Edition

Who’s Hot / Who’s Not: Daytona-New Hampshire Edition

Remember when you were a kid at the beach — Daytona Beach, perhaps, and went into the surf only to have a huge wave rock everyone? Well, that happened at Daytona International Speedway this weekend in many ways. Rain forced officials to move the race back to Sunday, but precipitation continued to come into play despite NASCAR’s planning.  The constant threat of more bad weather led to a “race to halfway” strategy administered by many teams that contributed to a ... Who’s Hot / Who’s Not In NASCAR: Sonoma-Kentucky Edition

Who’s Hot / Who’s Not In NASCAR: Sonoma-Kentucky Edition

Another stop in California left the road course specialists of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series wishing for another try.  They’ll get one eventually, but for now, the Chase picture remains unchanged. Carl Edwards added another victory, a first ever at Sonoma, and helped Roush Fenway Racing get back in the win column.  Next up is Kentucky Speedway, where it’s back to making left turns and likely a return to watching the stars of Cup lead the way from start to ...
