Joey Logano recorded his fourth victory of the season, first in the Chase and third consecutive win for Penske Racing overall. Both Brad Keselowski and Logano have automatically advanced to the top-12 Contender round. Survival was the name of the game Sunday as several Chase drivers received some sort of damage from on-track incidents including Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch, Ryan Newman, Matt Kenseth, Kasey Kahne, Jeff Gordon, ... Five Points to Ponder: Monster Sunday at the Mile, Penske Power & Poor Overnight Ratings

ONE: MONSTER SUNDAY AT THE MILE What a race we have ahead of us at Dover International Speedway this weekend, with as many as nine drivers in contention for the final transfer spots into round two – the Contender Round – of the Chase. Given the propensity of the Monster Mile to chew up cars in the blink of an eye, trouble for the Chase drivers looking for the final spots could prove catastrophic. And if what we saw at ... Tires Confiscated After Sprint Cup Race at New Hampshire

NASCAR has begun to take random samplings of tires from multiple cars at the end of each race. The tire confiscation was first noted two weeks ago at Chicagoland, the first race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. As first reported by Motorsport.com, the tires of four teams (Nos. 2, 4, 31 and 78) were taken back to the NASCAR Research and Development Center in Concord, N.C., for evaluation. The thought was that these teams may have been bleeding ... Read More »

Who’s Hot and Who’s Not: New Hampshire – Dover Edition

There’s only one race left in the opening Challenger Round of the NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup, but plenty of uncertainty after the Sylvania 300. Nine championship hopefuls are separated by only 12 points heading into the first elimination and four won’t advance, making this edition of Who’s Hot and Who’s Not a sizzler. Through two races, the revised Chase is playing out just as NASCAR CEO Brian France and other higher-ups envisioned it would. The AAA 400 at ... Read More »

Chase Drivers Claw Themselves out of New Hampshire

Chase Drivers Claw Themselves out of New Hampshire

As the Canadian National Anthem was invoked prior to the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire, NASCAR drivers did their best to pretend they were from Canada. The 43 drivers hit the track on an overcast Sunday afternoon, and evidently raced as aggressively as an NHL player fighting during a hockey match. The 300-lap spectacle was incredibly important, as the last race of the opening round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup is a week away. But that just made the 16 ... Read More »

Tech Talk: Tony Gibson on Making it Turn, Driving it Off & Tires that Give Up

Tony Gibson and the No. 10 team are headed to New Hampshire Motor Speedway without playing a part in the Chase. They and driver Danica Patrick are still working on their own agenda to attempt to improve over last season and to try and be in contention to win a race. At the very least, certainly hope to score their first top 5 of the year. Their average starting position is up by almost nine positions over last season and their ... Read More »
