Couch Potato Tuesday: ESPN Erases “Everyone” At ‘Dega For Chasers

Couch Potato Tuesday: ESPN Erases “Everyone” At ‘Dega For Chasers

Race weekends at Talladega Superspeedway make my stomach churn. I’m nervous the whole weekend, just hoping that nothing terrible happens. The sad truth is, terrible things have been happening at Daytona International Speedway and Talladega with an increasing frequency in recent years. It’s truly sad, and since almost all of the bad things happen in or around the very end of the races, there’s next to nothing that anyone can do about it. Thankfully, we didn’t have that last weekend. ... Read More »

Pace Laps: Chase Shakeups and Surviving Talladega

Sprint Cup Series: Another Round of Chase Eliminations - As the checkered flag dropped over Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday afternoon, four more drivers were removed from the championship battle. Kasey Kahne, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson are now left to just fight for Victory Lane for the remainder of the season. With that said, things could still change the makeup of the eight-driver field that remains if you listen to some speculation from the Twittersphere. Ryan Newman’s No. ... Read More »

In a Nutshell: Timothy Peters took the checkered flag 0.143 seconds ahead of Tayler Malsam to win the fred’s 250 powered by Coca Cola at Talladega Superspeedway Saturday afternoon. Peters held the top spot and remained there through a green-white-checkered finish to make 2014 his sixth consecutive season with at least one win. Spencer Gallagher, Tyler Reddick and Ryan Blaney rounded out the top 5. Who Should Have Won: Throw everyone’s name in a hat and grab one. Seriously. Talladega ... Read More »

Pace Laps: Dover Downer, Elliott’s Excellence, Crafton’s Consistency and More

Sprint Cup Series:  Dover Downer - After the excitement of the first two races of the reborn Chase, Dover produced a race that didn’t follow the script.  Rather than being a hard-charging affair, with the four drivers positioned to lose out racing like madmen, it seemed like everyone did his best to log laps, not make a mistake, and do what was needed to bring a car home in one piece. Perhaps Dover isn’t quite the track to make wild moves, ... Read More »

Truckin’ Thursdays: Sitting Pretty at the Halfway Point

Truckin’ Thursdays: Sitting Pretty at the Halfway Point

Last Saturday afternoon’s Pocono Mountains 150 marked the halfway point in the Camping World Truck Series schedule. While it’s taken us nearly six months to get to the middle of the schedule, we’ll have a whirlwind of 11 races to close out the season in a mere three months. In the meantime, this season hasn’t been short on storylines that are worth remembering. First and foremost, you can’t ignore Toyota’s dominance this season. Up until Austin Dillon took the victory ... Read More »

Going By the Numbers: Toyota’s NASCAR Streak Of Epic Proportions

By now you’ve heard the story, even if you don’t follow the series on a scrutinizing level: Toyota’s Tundras are unbeatable in the Camping World Truck Series. The manufacturer has been on point in 2014 in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, setting a blazing pace in the season’s first 10 races. So far, Toyota is 10 for 10 in race wins, losing only if you somehow count poles or heat races at Eldora — which, why would you? It’s ... Read More »
