The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is off this weekend and, for the second year in a row, the Truck Series is headed to Eldora Speedway for the only NASCAR national touring series race on dirt. Last year there were many lessons learned and this year will certainly hold more. In an effort to understand some of them, Tech Talk visits this week with Doug Randolph, the crew chief for Tyler Reddick this coming week at the Mudsummer Classic. Randolph has ... Read More »

Ross Chastain: Beyond the Watermelon

Ross Chastain: Beyond the Watermelon

To many of our readers, and many insiders in the sport, the first that they saw of Ross Chastain was when the then 18-year-old made his Camping World Truck Series debut at Lucas Oil Raceway in 2011. Chastain qualified 15th and finished a very impressive tenth. The debut led to Michael Waltrip’s rather irritating obsession (for TV viewers) with watermelons that culminated with a piece that aired during an episode of NCWTS Setup where Chastain took Waltrip to a watermelon farm ... Heffner, the current Big Block Modified points leader at Lebanon Valley Speedway in West Lebanon, NY, will attempt next Wednesday night’s 1-800 CarCash Mudsummer Classic at Eldora Speedway for MB Motorsports.  The effort will have some similarities to last year’s effort, but also some differences. Couch Potato Tuesday: TNT’s Swan Song Exposes More Cost Cutting?

It was the end of an era Sunday afternoon in Loudon, N.H. The Sprint Cup Series ran a race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, as it does twice a year. But Sunday wasn’t just the final race for TNT’s 2014 Summer Series — it was also the final scheduled race for TNT in NASCAR broadcasting, period. The network and Turner Sports will not air a race in 2015, for the first time in over 30 years. As such, there was ... Read More »

Truckin’ Thursdays: Five Drivers To Watch At Iowa

Truckin’ Thursdays: Five Drivers To Watch At Iowa

While the Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series drivers head off to New Hampshire, the Camping World Truck Series is headed to Iowa Speedway for a rare race alongside IndyCar. Thanks to that distance, there isn’t a single Cup driver on the entry list for Friday night’s event, and even better, a full field of trucks (38 for 36 spots) is expected at press time. That makes this weekend, with Kyle Busch back East the perfect time for some of the ... Read More »

Truckin’ Thursdays: Memorable Series Moments Part II

Truckin’ Thursdays: Memorable Series Moments Part II

Once again this weekend, the Camping World Truck Series sits idle while the Nationwide and Cup series head off to Daytona International Speedway for the 4th of July weekend. With little in the way of news other than Kyle Larson’s announcement that he’ll be running Eldora (who didn’t see that one coming?) and Kyle Busch’s slap on the wrist for his truck being too low following Kentucky Speedway last Thursday, it’s a great time to take a look at more ...
