New Official NASCAR Rule Manages On-Track Incidents

The following (Rule 9-16) was added to the NASCAR Rulebook this morning… During an event, if a car is involved in an on-track incident and/or is stopped on or near the racing surface and unable to continue to make forward progress, unless extenuating emergency conditions exist with the car (i.e. fire, smoke in cockpit, etc.) the driver should take the following steps: • Shut off electrical power and, if driver is uninjured, lower window net. • Do not loosen, disconnect ... On Wednesday, Hendrick Motorsports announced that Greg Ives, currently the crew chief for Chase Elliott’s No. 9 NAPA Auto Parts Chevrolet in the Nationwide Series for JR Motorsports, will serve as crew chief of Dale Earnhardt, Jr.’s No. 88 National Guard Chevrolet in the Sprint Cup Series starting in 2015. Jayski is reporting Panasonic as a potential primary sponsorship for Jeff Gordon in the Spring Cup Series races at  Sonoma Raceway and/or New Hampshire Motor Speedway  in July. Former Sprint Cup Series Car Owner Junie Donlavey Passes Away

NBC affiliate WWBT (Richmond, VA) is reporting that former Sprint Cup Series car owner Wesley Christian Donlavey, better known as “Junie” Donlavey, passed away Monday night at the age of 90, according to family members.  Donlavey had been suffering from the effects of Alzheimer’s Disease in recent years.
