NASCAR Sprint Cup Power Rankings: Top 15 After Charlotte

NASCAR Sprint Cup Power Rankings: Top 15 After Charlotte

Kevin Harvick exorcised his demons Saturday night, winning his third race of the season, but more importantly locking himself into the eight-driver Eliminator Round. Harvick won the pole and led the most laps, as usual.  This time, however, he was able to survive a late-race caution which set up a two-lap shootout to win the race. It was a very important race for a number of Chase drivers as poor finishes at Kansas set up a “do or die” scenario ... Read More »

How Charlotte Has Become the Most Important Race in the Chase

How Charlotte Has Become the Most Important Race in the Chase

Talladega Superspeedway has always been known as a “wild card” track. Restrictor-plate tracks are known for two-, three-, and even four-wide racing at 200 mph lap after lap. It also makes for surprise winners and big wrecks that can ruin a driver’s bid for a championship. So when NASCAR announced the new 2014 Chase format with three 3-race rounds that include the elimination of four drivers at the end of each round, leaving four drivers to battle for the title ... Kurt Busch Paces First Sprint Cup Practice

Kurt Busch set a track record last night in qualifying, and backed that up with the fastest speed in the first of two practice sessions today for the Sprint Cup Series. Kristen Yeley Wins the Better Half Dash

Kristen Yeley Wins the Better Half Dash

It was a wild (and short) race, but in the end Kristen Yeley was the victor in the fourth annual Better Half Dash. The old adage that cautions breed cautions rang true as numerous accidents shortened the race to eight laps from its scheduled 25 laps. This was also due to the time constraint with Nationwide Series practice, Sprint Cup qualifying and the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified race all being run Thursday night. The action started early as pole-sitter Amy ... Read More »
