Kevin Harvick Wins Opening Sprint Cup Practice in Dover

Kevin Harvick, who ripped around the 1-mile Dover International Speedway at 21.799 seconds (165.145 mph), won opening practice for the Sprint Cup Series in his No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet.

Quick in his wake was Dale Earnhardt, Jr., who ran only six laps in the 80-minute session.

Rounding out the top-5 times was Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards and Ricky Stenhouse, Jr.

The highlight of the session unfortunately came in the form of disaster for three teams as Danica Patrick suffered a massive fire in her No. 10 Chevrolet after a rear-gear issue. Jamie McMurray and Tony Stewart crashed into the frontstretch wall as they slid through Patrick’s oil.

All drivers were released from the infield care center and were sent to back-up cars.

Completing the top 10 times were Denny Hamlin, Martin Truex, Jr., Ryan Newman, Kurt Busch and Matt Kenseth.

Jayski has full practice results posted here.
