NASCAR Releases 2017 Sprint Cup, XFINITY, Truck Schedules

Frontstretch’s Truck Series content is presented by American Trucks

The 2017 schedules for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, XFINITY and Camping World Truck series are here.

And if you were expected any major changes to any, well, there’s no need to read further.

The schedules, revealed Thursday, May 5, represent an adherence to the status quo as far as recent schedules have gone, particularly the current 2016 circuits being contested. No new tracks, certainly, and just a handful of switched dates among tracks, but little else beyond that.

Specifically, on the Cup side, Dover International Speedway’s first race of the season will move back to June (it’s run on May 15 this year), with the event contested on June 4.

Additionally, Michigan International Speedway’s second race will move back to a date before Bristol Motor Speedway’s second event. Michigan will hold its race Aug. 13, while Bristol’s will come the following weekend on Aug. 19. This season, the races are flipped; Bristol will be run Aug. 20, Michigan on Aug. 28.

During the Chase for the Sprint Cup, the races at Talladega Superspeedway and Kansas Speedway have switched weekends; Talladega becomes the fifth race of the Chase on Oct. 15, while Kansas follows Oct. 22.

Four standalone events are included on the XFINITY Series schedule: races at Iowa Speedway, Mid-Ohio Sports Course, Road America and again at Iowa. Meanwhile, the Camping World Truck Series schedule includes five: Texas, Gateway, Eldora, Canadian Tire and Kentucky.

apparently this was written before Nascar decided to swap Kansas and Talladega in the Chase for 2017. I got one thing to say about it.

This is the one race in their idiotic Chase that was a wild card that could shake things up. To drop it and add Kansas Speedway to the cookie cutter fold is just utter nonsense. At the very least they could have swapped with a road course, Nascar that’s what you need!!! Something that puts a joker in your Chase! Morons!

I for one was glad to hear about their locking in the schedules for multiple seasons. I’m even more glad they’re sticking to it so I know year after year it will be the same dull death march, with no interesting changes, and no reason to see more than a handful of events after my favorite is gone.
