Truckin’ Thursdays: Remembering Steve Byrnes

Frontstretch’s Truck Series content is presented by American Trucks

On Tuesday, April 21, the NASCAR world was rocked by the loss of Steve Byrnes, whose positive attitude while he battled head and neck cancer was an inspiration to all.

Byrnes was the guy that, when you heard his voice on a telecast, you stopped and paid attention. He wasn’t afraid to ask the tough questions of drivers and would dig deep to get the answers people wanted.

In lieu of a Truck Series related piece this week, it’s in his honor that I look back on a few of his interviews and fun moments in television. There is no way to cover every single piece Byrnes was ever involved in, but here are just a few of them.

My thoughts and prayers remain with the Byrnes family as they process the loss of a husband, father, son and uncle.

So funny, you have to see it to believe it. According to the video’s description, this interview was about 10 years ago in the then-Busch Series.

No matter how hard I tried, I was unable to get this video to embed into this post, but I can’t not share it with you. Steve Byrnes does the Dougie.

Last, but not least, several tributes were done in Byrnes’ honor, and it’s heartwarming to see just how loved and respected he was in the motorsports community.
