Race Weekend Central

Jeff Gordon Paces First NSCS Practice Session

After weather forced some changes to the scheduled on-track activities on Friday at Kansas Speedway, the first practice session began right around noon. The session lasted for an hour and a half and, at the end, Jeff Gordon was the fastest driver. Gordon ran the fastest lap time of 27.515 sec at 196.257 mph. Gordon won last week’s race at Dover and hopes to continue that momentum into this weekend’s race.

Kevin Harvick, who is still searching for his first Chase race win this season, was second fastest with a speed of 196.178mph. One of last week’s eliminations, Greg Biffle was third, followed by Kyle Larson and Austin Dillon.

Jamie McMurray, Kasey Kahne, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Aric Almirola, and Ryan Newman rounded out the top 10.

Qualifying will begin later today at 5:45PM ET, and the teams will have two more practice sessions on Saturday.

The Hollywood Casino 400 will start at 2:00PM ET this coming Sunday.
