Rumors of Carl Edwards’ Move to Joe Gibbs Racing Continue to Heat Up

Changes may be taking place at Joe Gibbs Racing in preparation for the addition of a fourth team with Carl Edwards behind the wheel in 2015.

According to a report from Motorsport.com, speculation is that Darian Grubb, Denny Hamlin‘s current crew chief who is currently suspended for rules violations, may be sent to head up the new team with Edwards.

“They’re trying to put together the race teams and everything but I haven’t noticed anything being different for us,” Hamlin told Motorsport.com. “I think literally that will be an October question more so than right now because all the crew chiefs are so worried about how we’re going to run in the Chase.

“We haven’t had those discussions one-on-one yet.”

It is also anticipated that sponsorship for the new JGR team will come from Toyota Care, Subway (who currently is partnered with Edwards) and one other unnamed sponsor that is currently on-board another Sprint Cup car.

Neither Joe Gibbs Racing nor Edwards have confirmed or denied the rumors so far.
