The Party started outside the gates with bounce houses, airbrush tatoos and more fun on Kids Night at The New Berlin Raceway and Entertainment Complex. It was all about the kids, and the Friends of Casa and Miranda from WOODTV-8 and WOTV-4 helped gets things under way for the 4-in-1 Show! In Fact, Miranda jumped into the Berlin Raceway Ride-of-a lifetime two seat racecar and took the ride of her life!
The Engine Pro Super Stocks were in action on Saturday and featured fantastic side-by-side racing for the lead for the majority of the event, and Seth Moody, after a scuffle a couple of weeks back that ended on the back of the hook, recovered nicely to bag his first feature win of the season in the Engine Pro Super Stocks.
The Model Coverall Modifieds returned to action with division rookie Ben Welch starting out front. Welch was looking to bag his 2nd win of the season, and appeared to be on his way, but late race cautions bunched the field up and on the final restart, defending track champion Billy Shotko was able to get in front of Welch and go on to the win once again in the Model Coverall Modifieds.
The Napa Filters VROA Modifieds featured some of the tightest, cleanest and best 3-wide racing we’ve seen at Berlin all season. Several lead changes occurred throughout the night with great battles up front, and Terry Byrne slowing but surely worked his way up and was able to jump to the lead in the final portions of the race and grab his first feature win of the season!
The Boyne Machine Super Late Models were the final race of the night featuring a 60 lap event. Ross Meeuwsen set fast time again in his #99 over a field of 18 cars. An early caution near the front of the field slowed things with everyone avoiding the spinning Lee Vandyk. 30 laps later again Vandyk would find himself around in turn #4 causing a traffic jam and crashd Eliminating Joe Bush, fast time Meeuwsen and Ada’s Barry Hartwell. During the red flag for cleanup, race leader Tim Devos pitted for a flat tire, handing the lead to Tom Thomas, who lead the remainder of the evening and picked up the checkered flag!
